Fun Things to Do in Orlando October 12–18, 2026

Fun Things to Do in Orlando This Week: October 12–18, 2026

Lake Eola

Beautiful mornings, outdoor festivals, dragon boat races, free art, Halloween fun and neighborhood markets make this a great week to get out and enjoy Central Florida.

October is finally starting to feel like one of the best times of year to get outdoors in Orlando.

We aren’t talking about sweater weather just yet. Afternoon temperatures will still reach the 80s, but lower humidity early in the week, pleasant mornings and several mostly sunny days create some excellent opportunities to explore Greater Orlando.

And there’s plenty happening.

You can enjoy a free outdoor market on Monday, watch dragon boats race across Turkey Lake on Saturday, spend Thursday exploring an art museum without paying admission, or dress up for one of Orlando’s quirkiest Halloween neighborhood festivals.

We’ve put together a week of activities that emphasizes fun experiences, local discoveries and affordable outings, with options for couples, families, friends and active adults.

The best part? Many are free.

Monday, October 12: Explore Audubon Park’s Evening Community Market

boardwalk-garden-orlando

5–8 p.m. | Stardust Video & Coffee area, Audubon Park | Free entry

Monday is shaping up to be one of the nicer days of the week, with partly sunny skies, lower humidity and a high near 88 degrees.

Rather than spending the hottest part of the afternoon outside, wait until the evening.

The Audubon Park Community Market is scheduled for Monday from 5 to 8 p.m., giving residents a chance to browse local vendors and enjoy the neighborhood.

Audubon Park is one of Orlando’s more interesting districts for an unhurried outing. Its independent shops, cafés and restaurants make it a good place to spend time before or after the market.

Our suggestion: Arrive around 6 p.m., explore the vendors, then grab something to eat nearby.

It’s an easy way to start the week without spending much money.

Tuesday, October 13: Enjoy Food Trucks in the Milk District

6:30–9 p.m. | Milk District, Orlando | Food purchases extra

Tuesday could be the sunniest day of the week, with a high around 89 degrees and very little chance of rain.

That’s excellent weather for an evening food-truck outing.

Tasty Tuesday is scheduled to bring its regular food-truck gathering to Orlando’s Milk District.

Instead of committing to a full restaurant dinner, this is an opportunity to try something different, share food with friends and enjoy a casual neighborhood atmosphere.

Make it a tasting adventure.

Try one savory item from one vendor, then find dessert somewhere else.

Best for: Couples, friends and anyone looking for an easy after-work outing.

Wednesday, October 14: A Little Nostalgia at Old Town Kissimmee

Evening | Old Town, Kissimmee | Free to explore

Wednesday carries a higher chance of a passing morning shower, but the forecast improves later in the day.

That’s a good reason to save your outdoor plans for the evening.

Old Town Kissimmee has Wednesday Bike Night and live music listed from 6 to 10 p.m.

You don’t need to own a motorcycle to enjoy the atmosphere.

Walk through the entertainment district, check out the bikes, listen to music and browse the surrounding shops.

If you haven’t visited Old Town recently, it’s a fun reminder of the roadside entertainment culture that existed in Central Florida long before today’s enormous theme park developments.

Our suggestion: Go after dinner or grab something to eat while you’re there.

Thursday, October 15: Visit the Orlando Museum of Art for Free

Museum of Art Orlando

10 a.m.–8 p.m. | Orlando Museum of Art | Free admission

Thursday offers one of the week’s best opportunities to do something cultural without spending money.

The Orlando Museum of Art is holding its monthly Access for All day, allowing everyone to visit the museum free of charge.

And this isn’t simply free admission to walk around the galleries.

The museum has scheduled activities throughout the day, including:

  • A gallery talk at 2:30 p.m.
  • Drop-in sketching with materials provided from 5 to 7 p.m.
  • A docent-led Highlights Tour at 7 p.m.

The museum is located at 2416 North Mills Avenue, inside Loch Haven Park, and parking is free.

This could make an excellent afternoon or evening date.

Walk around the museum, discover artwork you’ve never seen before and enjoy an experience that would ordinarily require an admission ticket.

Our suggestion: Visit after 5 p.m. to take advantage of the sketching activities and evening tour.

Friday, October 16: Take a Fall Farm Adventure

Southern Hill Farms

Southern Hill Farms, Clermont area | Paid admission and activities

Friday looks like another favorable day for outdoor plans, with intervals of clouds and sunshine and a high around 87 degrees.

If you can get away during the day, consider visiting Southern Hill Farms for its seasonal Fall Festival, which operates on selected dates during October and November.

This is one of those outings that feels considerably more like autumn than the weather outside your car suggests.

Expect a farm atmosphere with seasonal activities, food, photo opportunities and opportunities to enjoy the countryside.

The experience is particularly appealing for families, but adults can enjoy it too.

Our suggestion: Go earlier in the day when temperatures are more comfortable, and check the farm’s ticket calendar before leaving. Admission and individual activities may carry charges.

Saturday, October 17: Watch Dragon Boat Racing at Turkey Lake

9 a.m.–3 p.m. | Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake | Free festival admission

This may be the most interesting outdoor event of the entire week.

The Orlando International Dragon Boat Festival and Asian Cultural Expo returns Saturday, October 17, bringing competitive dragon boat racing and cultural activities to Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake.

If you’ve never watched dragon boat racing, you’re in for something different.

Long boats decorated with dragon heads race across the water while teams of paddlers work in rhythm.

The races are fast, loud and exciting to watch.

But the event isn’t only about the competition.

Visitors can also enjoy the Asian Cultural Expo, food trucks, vendors and a health-and-wellness area.

The event is advertised as free to attend.

Location: 3401 South Hiawassee Road, Orlando.

Weather note: Saturday has an increasing possibility of afternoon thunderstorms. We’d aim for the morning races and check for event updates before heading out.

Saturday Evening: Zombietoberfest Takes Over Audubon Park

Starting at 5 p.m. | Audubon Park Garden District | Free admission

If you enjoy Halloween but don’t particularly want to spend a fortune on a haunted attraction, this might be your event.

Zombietoberfest is one of Orlando’s more unusual neighborhood celebrations.

And it starts Saturday evening with a collection of family-friendly activities.

The current schedule includes:

5–7 p.m.: KidsToberfest at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 1603 East Winter Park Road.

7 p.m.: Free spooky-themed concert at the church.

7:45 p.m.: Free outdoor screening of the 1986 movie Labyrinth, starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly, in the Little League outfield behind Redlight Redlight.

Bring a blanket or lawn chair for the movie.

Our suggestion: If the forecast cooperates, this could be one of the week’s best inexpensive evening outings. The organizer lists school parking at 1500 Falcon Drive for the film.

Sunday, October 18: Return for Zombietoberfest’s Costume Contests

11 a.m.–5 p.m. | Audubon Park Garden District | Free admission

The fun continues Sunday with Zombietoberfest’s Daywalker Market.

Browse local makers, enjoy the neighborhood atmosphere and, if you’re feeling creative, show up in costume.

The schedule includes:

3:30 p.m.: Children’s costume parade.

4 p.m.: Dog costume contest.

4:30 p.m.: Adult costume contest.

Yes, there’s a competition for dogs in Halloween costumes.

That alone could be worth the visit.

The event is centered around Corrine Drive near East Winter Park Road.

Weather note: Sunday currently has the week’s highest rain chance, so check the organizer’s updates before heading out.

Another Sunday Option: SODO Street Fest

11 a.m.–1 p.m. | 2200 South Orange Avenue | Free admission and parking

For families with younger children, SODO Street Fest offers a different kind of Sunday outing.

Hosted at Christ Church of Orlando, the free community event includes food trucks, bounce houses, a petting zoo, live music and fall-themed games.

It’s a short event, making it easier to fit into a busy weekend.

The organizer also confirms free on-site parking.

If the weather holds, this could be a good choice for families who want something fun without committing an entire day.

Sunday Morning: The Lake Eola Farmers Market

10 a.m.–3 p.m. | Lake Eola Park | Free entry

Sometimes the best outing is the simplest one.

The Orlando Farmers Market returns to Lake Eola Park on Sunday.

Browse local vendors, enjoy something to eat, look at plants and handmade goods, and take a walk around the lake.

The downtown skyline, swans and fountain provide a beautiful setting for a leisurely morning.

And because it’s a market, you can decide how much you want to spend.

You can simply walk around and enjoy the atmosphere.

Or turn it into brunch.

Our suggestion: Arrive early, particularly if the forecast still calls for afternoon showers.

A Few More Experiences Worth Considering

If none of those activities fit your schedule, Central Florida still has plenty of options.

The Winter Garden Farmers Market operates Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., making it an excellent excuse to explore historic downtown Winter Garden.

The Winter Park Farmers Market also operates Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Park Avenue and Central Park nearby for an extended outing.

And for anyone looking for a longer drive, the Clermont Farmers Market is scheduled Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

These aren’t elaborate attractions.

They’re opportunities to enjoy different Central Florida communities at a relaxed pace.

Our Favorite Plans for the Week

If we had to narrow everything down, we’d choose three experiences.

For something unusual: The Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday morning. Watching teams race across Turkey Lake is something many Orlando residents have never experienced.

For a free date: Orlando Museum of Art on Thursday evening. Free galleries, sketching and an evening tour make this an easy choice.

For Halloween fun: Zombietoberfest on Saturday evening or Sunday. Costumes, live entertainment, an outdoor movie and a neighborhood market offer something more personal than a major commercial Halloween attraction.

Don’t Waste This Week Indoors

Central Florida spends much of the year dealing with heat, humidity and afternoon storms.

This week offers several opportunities to enjoy the outdoors with somewhat more comfortable conditions, particularly during the mornings and evenings.

You don’t need an expensive ticket.

You don’t need to drive to a theme park.

And you don’t need to plan an elaborate vacation.

Try a neighborhood you’ve never explored.

Watch a sporting event you’ve never seen.

Visit an art museum.

Go to a farmers market.

Or dress your dog as a zombie.

Greater Orlando has a lot more to offer than many of us realize.

Sometimes the best way to enjoy living here is simply to look at the calendar, pick something different and go.

Event information and weather outlook checked October 11, 2026. Outdoor activities are subject to weather changes, and organizers may adjust schedules.

Just a guy with a lot of thoughts on a lot different things. This site is where I can share some of those thoughts. I'm in Defense and Aerospace and we will leave it at that.
